WAAW Foundation Global Youth Scholars Program (GYSP) is  an academic empowerment  scheme  for best high school and early college students from 130 countries all around the world including Africa. Each summer, students of 16 – 21 years arrive in Nigeria or Kenya to explore Africa and to participate in the two-week Social Entrepreneurship, Leadership and STEM programs at the WAAW Foundation’s campuses in Lagos and Abuja Nigeria; and Nairobi Kenya. It is an invigorating, mind-blowing program that gives students to explore the Africa culture while developing innovative, entrepreneurship, and leadership skills.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Must be at least 13 – 19 years old by the slated start date.
  • Should be fluent in English language (Writing, speaking, and hearing).
  • Should be currently enrolled in or recent graduate from high school (not an undergraduate student)
  • All countries from around the world including all African countries are eligible to apply.
  • Available to travel by July 2021

Required Processes/Documents

At this stage, applicants are expected to share information about their educational background, interest, and extracurricular activities. Applicants would also be required to complete some essay questions and submit a letter of recommendation.

All students must submit the following:

  • Complete the online application form
  • Two essays responses
  • Contact information of one Recommender who will complete the GYSP Recommendation Form.
  • Complete tuition payment to confirm your spot in the GYSP.

Application Process

The WAAW Foundation Global Youth Scholars Program regards  online applications where students and their families (parents/guardians) go to complete and submit an application.

Student’s applications are reviewed and accepted once the application fee is paid and the online form submitted. Once you have been accepted, you will receive detailed information on how to make payment during your enrolment process. You can pay online, securely via Credit Card, or via Bank Transfer.

  • Applicants are required to pay a non-refundable application fee of $30 USD before the online application can be submitted and processed.
  • Applicants will receive the final decision within approximately 15-25 days when applications are submitted and the tuition fee is paid.
  • Applicants will need to complete supplemental forms during the selection process medical insurance, flight and other details
  • Applicant’s Parents/guardians will be expected to complete and sign the consent form.
