The Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development of Nigeria Sadiya Umar Farouq had confirmed to newsmen what FG is doing about Npower batch A,B,C. She made this disclosure while speaking on Thursday at the Cyprian Ekwensi Center for Arts and Culture, Garki, Abuja during the launch of the Federal Government Special Cash Grant for Rural Women.
She Also said the apex government’s various National Social Investment Programmes (NSIPs) have impacted greatly on the poor and vulnerable in the country.
According to the minister, since its introduction in 2016, more than 12 million households have benefitted from the National Social Investments Programme (NSIPs) interventions including the payment of a monthly Conditional Cash Transfer of N5,000.00 to 1 million indigent households to protect them against economic shocks.
“The N-Power program provides temporary income-generating opportunities 500,000 unemployed youths, while 8,612,457 primary 1-3 pupils in select public schools are receiving 1 meal per day under the National Home Grown School Feeding Programme (NHGSFP),” Farouq said.
“These programmes are being restructured and revamped.” She said
You will recall that N-Power is a scheme set up by the President of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari in 8 June 2016, supervised by the vice president Prof Osinbanjo , with the primary aim of addressing the issues of youth unemployment and help increase social development.
Batch A N-Power beneficiaries were exited from the scheme in June 2020, while their Batch B counterparts were withdrawn in July 2020.
The process of recruiting Batch C beneficiaries started in Q3 of 2020, but to date, the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs is yet to make any positive comment about Batch C N-Power. Many applicant have begin if this is another failed promise from the Federal Government.
