NH Sea Grant in the University of New Hampshire (UNH)’s School of Marine Science and Ocean Engineering seeks a Program Support Assistant for its off-campus office in Lee, NH (working virtually to start). NH Sea Grant is a partnership between the University of New Hampshire and the National Ocean and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA)’s National Sea Grant College Program (Sea Grant). Sea Grant programs are based in every coastal and Great Lakes state, as well as in Puerto Rico and Guam. MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES 

​The NH Sea Grant Program Support Assistant will report to the NH Sea Grant Assistant Director for Communications and work closely with a range of program staff, including the NH Sea Grant Director. Primary responsibilities:

  • Provide general administrative and programming support for NH Sea Grant staff
  • Schedule and support events related to NH Sea Grant programming, including meetings, seminars, workshops, student interviews, and facilities usage
  • Coordinate and oversee day-to-day office activities, to include management of supplies, equipment, and the physical footprint of the office and conference rooms
  • Attend meetings of appropriate Boards/Committees, and report meeting content to designated NH Sea Grant staff
  • Assist in the preparation of email campaigns, brochures, handbooks, campus publications, periodic statistical and/or progress reports, handouts, and other written materials, and/or coordinate appropriate outreach and marketing activities as assigned
  • Provide and/or oversee entry and retrieval of appropriate data, including invoices/payments related to areas of responsibility, utilizing existing programs, and monitoring budgets as required
  • Assist in collecting performance data from NH Sea Grant staff and funded researchers, compiling these data, and reporting to the National Sea Grant College Program
  • May assist in researching issues regarding compliance with university, government, and other external regulations and assist with compliance as required
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • 3-years relevant experience
  • Skilled in computer programs such as (or similar to) Microsoft Office Suite, Qualtrics, Salesforce, Drupal, Slack, and virtual meeting platforms such as Zoom
  • Experience with word processing, spreadsheets, desktop publishing, databases, web, and social media
  • Willingness to take campus-sponsored, work-related short courses and an eagerness to engage in professional development opportunities
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with faculty, staff, students, and the general public
  • Demonstrated commitment to valuing diversity and contributing to an inclusive working and learning environment

* Education and experience equivalencies may provide alternative options to meet the qualifications 

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS 

  • Completion of courses in related subjects at the college/university level
  • Experience gained in programs related to Sea Grant supported activities
  • Experience in public relations, marketing, or telecommunications

POSITION TYPE 

  • 100% (full-time, 40-hour/week), hourly, benefited, grant funded.
  • All grant funded positions are contingent upon continued grant funding.

WORK LOCATION AND HOURS 

​This position is based at the NH Sea Grant off-campus location in Lee, NH, and may begin as a remote position depending on University COVID-19 adaptation policies. Business hours are Monday through Friday 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.; however, there may be times when work beyond regular business hours, including weekends, may be necessary in order to complete the requirements of the position. Some in-state and out-of-state travel is likely.
